Re: '59 Reissue Strat
Thanks PJ! Too bad it isn't a real '59. A friend of mine had a '59 blonde Strat with factory gold parts and I am still kicking myself for not getting it from him decades ago! That being said, I only have a few bucks into this reissue Strat and it plays and sounds nearly as good as an old one! ...

Re: '59 Reissue Strat
Gigged my blonde Strat last weekend and it played and sounded great! Played it thru my '64 "tuxedo" Bassman head (6G6-B circuit, black tolex, white knobs) and custom made cab with one 15" Altec...sounded "phat" as the kids might say!

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Great old photo! The double cut Wilshire was a good choice for lefty Jimi. I heard he couldn't afford the payments on the guitar and had to return it! The bass player is Billy Cox I believe who also went on to bigger things! Wonder who was playing the single cutaway Melodymaker? Love the Magnatone a...

Re: Robben Ford
That old video is cool. The Super 400 sounds sweet! Robben's playing is good too but hadn't achieved the sophistication that came later IMHO!

Re: Robben Ford
Jim, I don't know Robben personally but have met him a number of times and took his day-long guitar workshop in Ojai, CA (highly recommended). He passed around his '54 Goldtop and '60 Tele...He is friendly, approachable and down to earth! One of my favorite players...I have most of his recordings......

Re: Let's hear your music!
Thanks Jim, I appreciate your kind remarks. Yes, would love to hear some of your music! Trombone can be great. Robben Ford had a combo that featured a 'bone player with funky chops!

Let's hear your music!
Sometimes we vintage guitar nuts get so wrapped up in the guitar trivia we forget they are musical instruments! Looking forward to hearing the music you make with your vintage fiddles! Below link is to Juke Joint, the 6 piece Soul and R&B band I play with. Check out the demos page, hope you like...

Re: Robben Ford
Robben gets a great tone out of that long headstock Riviera! I understand he only uses the neck pickup. I tried to interest him in the short headstock '63 Riv I sold years ago but he passed at that time...
