Re: Epiphone Amplifiers

It's a constantly evolving thing. I found a bit more info on the EA-35 Devon and the EA-100/101 amps just the other day.

Epiphone Amplifiers

Yes, a genuine post. Not trolling, spam or advertising Viagra but a genuine post about Epiphone amps. I began researching Epiphone's Kalamazoo period about eight years ago with the intention of sending a book proposal to one of the musical instrument reference publishers. The big one (Hal Leonard) o...

Re: SGs!

It appears to be factory black and with an ugly bit of routing under the middle pickup, suggesting that it originally perhaps had only two pickups. There is evidence of overspray. At least one of the pickups is a Seymour Duncan and it's possible that the others aren't original to the guitar. http://...

Re: Workaday guitars.

Strangely perhaps, it's the one I use least. I think it's the feel of the neck which doesn't have the same "Teleness" of the others, each of which have their own character. It's not easy to spot in the pic but the black 52RI has a Shelton B-bender fitted for when I want to be Clarence Whit...

Workaday guitars.

My other love is Telecasters in pretty much all styles. These are the ones that generally get gigged as I like the twang. :D

SGs!

Just for the hell of it ... http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/javamagic/Guitars/SGfamily3.jpg The '69 Special is now gone - but I still have my Wilshire. The "Fool" is a Vester SG Standard copy fitted with some '70s DiMarzio PAFs. :) The construction of the Cipollina Tribute SG (centr...

Re: Couple of observations: changes to Epi solidbodies, seems like it was in '62

I think I'd have to agree about the likely change in position of the strap button. My 1963 Wilshire has it fixed on the bass bout. Not sure about the shape of the heel. What do you reckon? http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e396/javamagic/Wilshire/epi63wils04a.jpg Another interesting thing or two I n...

It's nice to be here.

Like you guys I think appreciation and accurate information on Kalamazoo era Epiphones is long overdue, so thanks for starting a forum dedicated to them. I bought my first Epiphone, a 1962 Crestwood Custom, in 1974 having sold my '62 SG Special in order to fund the purchase. It was a near obsession ...
