1964 Riviera at great price

Unsolicited! Jay Rosen has what appears to be a very nice 1964 Riviera at a great price (under $3K). He says the guitar has a repaired headstock. It has a black stinger. Maybe it is a repair or maybe it is stock? I've seen at least one other early Riviera stock from the factory with a back of headstock stinger...
